So, you've inherited some Pixieware... now what?
Maybe you found a box like this while cleaning out a parent's home, settling an estate, or exploring your grandmother's attic. Some pieces may say Holt Howard. Others may have only a paper label, an unfamiliar mark, or nothing at all.
You may be wondering what the pieces are, who made them, whether they belong together, or what they might be worth.
Don't worry. I'm here to help.
What is it?
I am happy to help identify Holt Howard pieces, Pixieware made by competing companies, and other related midcentury ceramics. In many cases, details such as the shape of the jar, the style of the face, the utensil, the backstamp, or even the way a lid fits can provide useful clues.
I may also be able to tell you whether a piece appears complete, whether parts have been mixed and matched, and where it fits within a larger product line.
What might it be worth?
The Holt Howard Archive is not a price guide, and values can change considerably with condition, completeness, rarity, and current collector demand. Even so, I can often provide a reasonable market range based on recent sales and my experience following Holt Howard auctions and private sales.
A valuation is an informed opinion, not a formal appraisal. For insurance, tax, probate, or other legal purposes, you may need a qualified professional appraiser.
Good photographs make all the difference.
Please include as much of the following as you reasonably can:
- A clear photograph of the entire piece from the front.
- Views of the back, sides, base, and underside of the lid.
- Close-ups of any backstamp, foil label, copyright date, or factory mark.
- Photographs of the attached spoon, fork, stopper, or other removable parts.
- Approximate height and width.
- Clear photographs of chips, cracks, repairs, paint loss, or missing pieces.
You do not need professional photography. A few well-lit phone pictures against an uncluttered background are usually enough.
